Garrick Udet was born in 1916 in Southern Bavaria.
His father was a cooper who enlisted Garrick into the trade at the age of 10, forcing him to work in his shop after Garrick would finish school.
He needed the extra help as Garrick's mother was a drunk who spent most of the family's income on cheap riesling.
A smart lad, Garrick finished school at the age of 15.  Sick of making barrels for his father and tired of his mother's excessive drinking, he left home and made his way to Munich.
Inspired by American fashion and Jazz music during the 20's, he decided to become a tailor.
His first apprenticeship with Willy Bogner ended poorly when his master caught him sleeping with his wife.
Garrick moved to Frankfurt following this incident hoping to making a fresh start.  He spent the rest of the 1930s as an apprentice to a reputable (and unmarried) tailor in the outskirts of Frankfurt.
When the War started in 1939, Garrick attempted to join the Luftwaffe in to follow in his uncle's footsteps.  Being the nephew of a famous WWI ace would be a sure path to a pilot.  Garrick was wrong.
The Luftwaffe wanted him for his skills as a tailor, inspecting parachutes for the Fallschirmjäger.
In 1942, Garrick was transferred to the Heer when the need for man power on the eastern front superseded the need for immaculate parachutes.
He was soon assigned to the 3rd Panzergrenadier Division where he fights to this day...

Good bio, man.  I especially like the part about sleeping with the tailor's wife.  I mean, this is fantasy :)

Seems like a rather likeable sort.  Good point man for the unit.  Less complaints from any offended husbands. :)
